The art of "SPFX" makeup is often mistakenly associated with horror and illness/ injury, but it's actually more commonly used to create unique characters for major motion pictures, popular television series, commercials, music videos, and even "web series." Films such as "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy, "The Chronicles of Narnia," trilogy, the "Harry Potter" series, "Pirates of the Caribbean," "Star Wars," "Star Trek," are just a few that are heavily "character-driven," and have enjoyed tremendous success with audiences around the globe. "Classes 4 Characters" is the newest concept in prosthetic and prop-making instruction in Los Angeles. We provide low-cost, accelerated courses for makeup artists, theatrical prop makers, Halloween enthusiasts, and other artisans/crafters. Our short duration and low fees are appealing to working adults, parents, full-time college students, as well as out-of-state students. Our flexible course structure is one that will not interfere with work, school, or family schedules, thus can be enjoyed by anyone. If you are someone who simply does not have the time and/or financial means to invest in lengthy training, then we can help. While we expect that most of our students will have some previous makeup training and skills, they are not a prerequisite. A basic knowledge of painting/sculpting and/or other art skills is helpful, but you will not be refused if you do not possess those abilities. Our workshops are designed to enhance all skill levels, whether you are a professional or novice. We also encourage others who are interested and enthusiastic about learning this fascinating art form, since sculpture, mold-making and painting are useful skills for a wide range of applications. Our workshops are a fun way to connect and socialize with other artists, and to pick up different skills and techniques from your fellow students. In times of an unsteady economy, professional makeup artists need to have an edge over the competition. Our job is not only to develop and refine your skill set, but also to demonstrate secondary avenues for those skills.
