Business Overview

Mikala Cash "I've always enjoyed the creative process, fun, bright fabrics, the challenges, the rewards, the therapeutic nature and exciting world of sewing. When I began to incorporate lessons into my handbag business, it was a blessing. I found that I love teaching equally as much as I enjoy designing and constructing. I really enjoy meeting and exploring this skill with others. There is nothing better than to see someone's face light up when they have finished a project or when they learn to do something they previously couldn't. Teaching allows me to share my passion with others and helps me to continue to grow as a person, artist and teacher." Mikala began sewing at the age of 6 and received formal training while enrolled in the fashion program at Massachusetts College of Art and Design. She has been teaching creative and fashion sewing classes at her North Attleboro studio for children and adults since 2008. In addition she has taught creative and fashion sewing classes for The Stable of Artists in Wrentham, MA; the Hockomock YMCA in North Attleboro, MA; the Attleboro Art Museum in Attleboro, MA; the Gordon Larson Senior Center in Attleboro, MA ; and School One in Providence, RI. He plays an intrical role at the studio through maintenance, product development and construction. Rodney says, "Working with fabric and raw materials is similar to producing great food. You have the start of something amazing and with a little effort and creativity the end result magnifies the beginning. Working with fabric and food is a way for me to use my hands and my inspiration at once. Both of these arts are creative and practical. We all need to eat and we all need to wear clothing." Rodney is also owner of C & C Property Maintenance. A landscaping company that specializes in providing superior lawn maintenance and customer service to the community. Valerie Zagami Valerie Zagami is our quilting instructor and one of our children's sewing instructors. She began as a child at her grandmother's side and learned to sew, embroider, and anything to do with thread and cloth. She started with her dolls clothing and moved on to find herself attending school for Fashion Design in Boston, MA. Valerie's bright smile, energetic, kind and warm personality make her a wonderful fit at the studio. Her easy going nature is comforting and her skill level is beyond measure. In addition to being a skilled sewist, Valerie was a long time North Attleboro resident who owned her own business there, Tera and Trinketts. She has always been extremely active in the community being North Attleboro Town Selectman from 1990-1993, DARE Volunteer for several years, Girl Scout and Boy Scout Leader, Attleboro Community Council Member from 2008-2010 and Parent Aide for New Hope to mention a few.
