This business is solely operated by the artist/instructor Eva Roffe. Eva Roffe began studying the Old Masters' Techniques 30 years ago, ignoring the common trend of "modernism" and the art establishments who have had a disdain for craftsmanship in fine arts. Unable to find the desired art training in her area of living (there were and still are only very few around the world). She educated herself by taking drawing classes and painting workshops from different artists, reading the rare books on traditional techniques and mainly by observing the art in museums around the world ("...it is at the museums where one learns to draw and paint." -Degas). Eva Roffe started to teach in 1996, focusing primarily on teaching the traditional Old Masters Techniques in oil painting and drawing. Her mastery and skill is visible in her works. This traditional atelier is part of a growing artistic movement dedicated to promoting the forgotten teachings of the Old Masters. Modeled after the schools of the past, but facilitating the newest and the contemporary, it is a classical school for the new age. During the early 20th century, the art institutions for the most part, stopped teaching the traditional techniques. The trend of modernism took over, resulting with the art teachers of today lacking practical skill/knowledge to pass on to their students. It may sound difficult but in reality it simplifies the process of painting. Classes are offered in a friendly, small and supportive group setting where students learn at their own pace. The schedule is flexible and accommodating. In addition to regular schedule workshops with variety of subjects in drawing and painting are scheduled randomly throughout the year. Occasionally Studio Atelier hosts a workshops with some of the best instructors in the country.Read more
